Hedsey Rowa (Research Assistant, TBSE Ambassador, Ka’ie’ie Program Participant)

Iakwe and Lenwo, My name is Hedsey Rowa. I am an undergraduate research assistant with Cerene ( Center for Resilient Neighborhoods), an ambassador for the TBSE program, and a proud participant in the Kaʻieʻie Program. I currently reside in the Makiki/Lower Punchbowl/Tantalus area under Neighborhood Board NO.1O. I am pursuing a degree in Economics with a minor in Sustainability. Through my work with CERENE, I’ve been honored to present my research at several prestigious events, including the National Science Foundation Conference in Nebraska, the inaugural National Sustainability Conference at the University of Washington, and the Continuums of Service Conference at the University of Seattle. I aspire to become a sustainable economist, with a mission to serve and uplift the Micronesian community, both in Hawaii and throughout the islands. My mother is Kosraean and my father is Marshallese, and much of my recent research, which I’ve shared at these conferences, is rooted in my summer fieldwork in the Marshall Islands. My work focuses on advancing community-based solutions that support the next generation, strengthen women’s voices, assist with local governments, and listen to the community for their needs. My research explores critical areas including Healthcare, Education, Food Security, Climate change resilience, etc.

Also the greatest of all time.
