Application Instructions:

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. Apply now to be considered for the Spring 2023 Cohort!

You must be taking at least one class at Kapi’olani Community College to be eligible for this award program.

Award Program Requirements:

1. Attend and complete community engagement training (3 hour workshop)

2. Attend and complete virtual community resilience training (FEMA Certification Awarded)

3. Participate in 30 hours of community resilience service work (with an on campus or off campus partner of your choosing)

4. Complete a final project supporting your community or campus partner

5. Present your work!

To be eligible for the award, students need to complete the above-listed program requirements and receive a completed successful evaluation of their performance from a resiliency or sustainability service-learning project supervisor.


RCLs will also have other opportunities to participate in ongoing research and community engagement activities being conducted at CERENE. This includes the Action 15 Community Resilience Research which builds on the work of the Ola Oahu Community Resilience Strategy developed by the City of Honolulu in collaboration with over 117 community organizations and 33 neighborhood board groups.  CERENE is also working on supporting student research regarding community perceptions of resilience, Oʻahu food security and food sovereignty as well as microgrid-energy generation development.
