The Resilience Corp Leadership Award Program is both a Leadership Training Program and an Active Service Learning Program where students are placed with different community partner sites around the island so they can get real-world job exposure while also assisting the host organization or company.
Our Resilience Corp Leaders (RCLs) represent the next generation of sustainability and resilience researchers, professionals, educators and neighborhood residents who can integrate sustainability and resilience competencies into their careers and communities.

Students also have the option of becoming a Resilience Research RCL (R-RCL) where they receive 1:1 mentoring and additional training in Social Science research protocols including:
- Social Science Research skills
- Qualitative Interviewing
- Focus Group facilitation
- Data analysis
- Data management
- Presentation skills
- Leadership skills
- Project management
- Communications
- Community engagement
- Research Ethics
R-RCLs have the same program requirements as RCL’s but because of the additional training requirements and added responsibility they receive a $1000.00 award following the successful completion of the program. R-RCLs will work specifically with the CERENE Center on the Action 15 Research on Community Resilience Hubs unless noted otherwise. Many of our R-RCLs go on to become Undergraduate Research Assistants working with the CERENE Center and several have gone on to become Interns following these appointments.
