Aloha! My name is Thomas Lihau Mikasobe III. I live with O’ahu’s Neighborhood Board #7, Mānoa. I am interested in many things: cooking; teaching and playing music; helping people in need; and keeping our planet green. I am especially passionate about education and helping people to live a suitable life full of resources that help them to be the best they can be. As part of my work with the Resilience Corps Leaders (RCLs), I will continue to communicate with a clear understanding to all of the members of my community how to be more empowered, how to equip themselves well and protect their families to face emergency or disaster situations that come their way, and how to be 100% prepared for the events. One fun fact about me that you may not know is that I can play more than 20 musical instruments and that I can cook Puerto Rico’s signature dish, “Arroz con Gandules,” which will make you lick your fingers.
Note: Arroz con gandules is a combination of rice, pigeon peas, and pork, cooked in the same pot with sofrito (a puree of of onions, garlic, aji peppers, green bell pepper, and cilantro and culantro). This is Puerto Rico’s national dish along with roasted pork. (Wikipedia)
