Yunuen “Yun” Bustamante (Resilience Corps Leader)

Aloha, My name is Yunuen Bustamante, but my friends call me Yun. I live within Oʻahu’s Neighborhood Board #10, Makiki-Tantalus. I was born and raised in Mexico and moved to Hawaiʻi six years ago. I’m interested in sustainability, food security, and indigenous knowledge. I am very passionate about livestock farming. My goal is to promote sustainable agriculture and livestock in the islands, incorporating ecological concepts, animal welfare, traditional knowledge, and new technologies to produce animal protein following sustainable practices. As part of my work with the Resilience Corps Leaders (RCL), I will be doing research on Korean natural farming piggeries as an example of sustainable agriculture and the circular economy to promote the production of local pork to feed the community. One fun fact about me that you may not know is that I have a MS in agroforestry.
